Here at the Howland, we take the "cultural center" idea so broadly
that it could mean just about anything in the arts.

It has included many genres of music and theater, literature, poetry, dance and about a dozen gallery exhibits a year.

And sometimes, we go beyond arts into other elements of culture, most notably the preservation of the
Victorian architecture of the historic 1872 building.

We produce some events ourselves, from the ground up. Or partner with other groups to present a show.

Some productions are created by outside groups and we serve as the host venue.
Other times they are entirely produced by sponsors who rent our space.

If you have ideas for "what's next" at the Howland, we'd like to hear it.

Some of our best show presenters just walked in the door one day.
