THE FOURTH WALL MISSION STATEMENT

 Our goal is to put the "community" back into "community theatre", by providing independent opportunities to disenfranchised individuals who would otherwise not receive opportunities to perform, produce and tech staged theatre shows due to disabilities, race, creed, or even just lack of belonging to their own group, as well as a desire to think outside the box in terms of traditional theatre, and provide the audience and performers a perspective they didn't expect to see.

 It is our belief that inclusion and creativity are the cornerstone of community theatre, and in order to reach the next step of professionalism, requires the support of everyone.

Mission

To enrich the quality of life for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities by fostering individual growth, creativity, and community involvement through innovative strategies and artistic expression.

Vision

A world where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live healthier and enriched lives, and are nurtured by caring and supportive communities that minimize and eliminate barriers.

The Fourth Wall Theatre company was created by staff from DDSO-Employment Eplus (one of three programs under the DDSO non-profit banner.) 

The Fourth Wall Theatre Company produced its first stage play (an original sketch comedy), May 2018. The remainder of 2018 consisted of three additional original sketch comedy shows.

In 2019, we established our first full season, combining our original sketch comedy, with named/royalty-based plays, along with originals from local playwrights.
