Starting in March of 2020, the newly formed Clinton Arts Council was a week away from the beginning of our inaugural theatre season:  WomenKind 2020 - a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the landmark 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,  ten One-Woman shows celebrating known, unknown, and (mostly) true stories of women of history.

And then the world got locked down.

We are BACK - in the virtual world.

Originally created in New York City in 1990 by producer and performer Emma Palzere-Rae ("Aunt Hattie's House"), "The Womenkind Festival" provided performance opportunities to women where there were few, by presenting one-woman shows throughout March, Women’s History Month. Having done so, its legacy is that of Womenkind alumni – some of whom will perform in these online events - who continue to be a community of vibrant performers who support parity for women in theater, and who entertain audiences with their diverse stories.

We have recreated the idea of the Festival to work on in a virtual world, but our mission is the same, as all of the proceeds from each night will go to the performers who are participating.
