Choreographer (Period 1)
Hailey McIntosh
Hello, my name is Hailey McIntosh and I am one of the choreographers for the 2021 Virtual Spring Concert. I am so grateful for this opportunity I have been given to be such a big part of this year's spring concert. Although creating choreography and then teaching it virtually was a challenge, it has given me growth as a dancer and a bigger perspective on virtual learning.

Director (Period 1)
Kaitlynn Hinkle
Hi my name is Katie and I wanted to tell you about my journey as a director for Period 1:Dance. Something I learned throughout directing the class is knowing that my ideas might not fit well with the students. I learned that I can pick things I like and enjoy seeing in a dance but I also have to understand that the students may not feel that way. You never want your students to feel uncomfortable when they are doing something they love because then the piece can turn into a disaster. Just know that the students come before your ideas. Making sure they are comfortable, happy, and having fun is what matters the most.

Communications Representative (Period 1)
Ariana Foster
Hello everyone! This is Ariana. One of your communication representatives. During the process of my role for the spring concert, I learned many new things. One being, it’s important to communicate with one another and come to an agreement so everyone is on the same page. Also, learning how to create a newsletter which I’ve never created before, so it was such a fun experience putting the information together.

I’ve learned how to be an artist, a dancer, and a better person. Who knows how far I will go as a dancer, but hopefully this won’t be the last performance of me that you will see.

Communications Representative (Period 2)
Brielle Martinez
As the Communications Representative, I learned a lot over the production process, one of the main things being how important communication between the dancers and the production team is. It is important to be very precise while explaining the details, or else not all of the dancers' videos will be the same. It is important that the director, choreographer, and communications representative all work together perfectly so that the dance and whole show get put together seamlessly.

Choreographer (Period 4)
Brianna Lebron
My name is Brianna Lebron and as a choreographer, the process for me was fun to do. With the theme my group has chosen, I wanted to make sure that the dance was uplifting and fun. Also, as a choreographer, I wanted the students to be comfortable with the moves I gave them and for the moves not to be too difficult, making the dance exciting for them and performed to their best ability!

Director (Period 4)
Alexis Hernández
As a director, I have faced many points of struggle and learned how to overcome them within a matter of a couple of weeks. This experience has been new to all of us, and this concert shows that even in the lowest of times, if we unite as one, anything is possible. This is the mindset I had coming into our Spring Concert, wanting to give nothing but my best.

Choreographer (Period 5)
Xzelandrya Fuentes
Hi my name is Xzelandrya Fuentes and I had the privilege of being a choreographer for the 2021 spring concert, as well as a guest student-teacher for a week and a half. Something I have learned is that being a choreographer has more meaning than just simply creating choreography, it's about watching your students grow and your vision coming to life through your students who share a strong passion for dance.

Choreographer (Period 6)
Adrianna Romo
I am Adrianna Romo and I am so thankful to have gotten the opportunity to choreograph for this year’s virtual Spring concert! I had a great time being a student teacher, although teaching over zoom was definitely a challenge. Through this experience I learned that teaching and creating choreography isn’t all bright and cheerful, you will struggle and that is okay. I am so glad that I learned through this time and experience, and I look forward to developing more teaching skills and creating new work!

Director (Period 6)
Kaliyah Greene
A director’s responsibility is to direct others and to set the tone of the production. While working on the spring concert, I learned why the role of the director is so important to have when creating a dance piece. As a director, I learned how to efficiently give direction to others and how to create a beautiful artistic vision.

Communications Representative (Period 6)
Melissa Larson
What I learned throughout the process of producing the Virtual Spring Concert was to think outside of the box and be creative. Being a communications representative, I had the responsibility of giving dancers their correct instructions and answering any questions, if they needed. Despite the challenges, the biggest thing I learned was that nothing is impossible and to have patience, it will all end up working out!

The thing I love most about dance is I get to express my emotions through the art of my body. When I dance it feels like a home away from home. I love how I can just let go of whatever is going on and be free. My favorite style of dance is contemporary. I love to connect with the floor whether it’s through floor work or simply the bottom of my feet. Dance has shaped me into the person I am today! When Mrs.Houston first told us we are having a virtual Spring Concert I was so nervous about how everything would come together, but after watching all of these dancer put their hard work and dedication into preparing this concert it is something beautiful to watch. We have had so many challenges come our way but nothing has stopped us from making this happen. I hope you enjoy.

Creative Team

Meet the Creative Team behind "Dancing Alone, Together." These students are from the esteemed Dance Choreography & Production class. Dance class is not just about movin' and groovin', rather a dancer must also demonstrate discipline, integrity, critical thinking skills, selflessness/teamwork, justified decision-making, accountability, and commitment to excellence. The dance program is SO proud of each and every one of these bright and shining superstars! If one of these dancers is yours, please give them a big hug or pride. They're the force behind this production!
