Stephanie earned her PhD in Molecular Biology in 2019 from UCLA where she studied how parasites called African trypanosomes communicate with each other and coordinate their movements to engage in social behaviors. After graduating, Stephanie briefly studied parasitic worms as a postdoctoral researcher at UCLA before trading in her pipette for a pen in 2021 to become a science journalist. Stephanie is now an Assistant Editor at the magazine Drug Discovery News, but she still loves talking about the weird but fascinating biology of parasites and how they manage to navigate through and evade detection inside their hosts.
