Andrew Acevedo

A native of Bogotá, Colombia, Andrew earned his B.S. in Physical Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1979, then served at sea as a weapons and operations specialist on ships of the U.S. Naval Fleet, and served at the Bureau of Naval Personnel as a special assistant for reserve officer promotions. Andrew teaches the basic computer course and all levels of The Heights Spanish curriculum. His hobbies include reading, travel, and home remodeling.

Salvatore Arrigo-Manrique
Assistant Stage Manager
Salvatore is excited to be performing in his second play at The Heights. You might recognize him from his role as the 9th Juror (12 Angry Men). His hobbies include board games, skiing, chess, and doing absolutely nothing. He thanks his family and friends for supporting him and generally making life nicer (at least while they’re not annoying him). Salvatore hopes to appear in many more Heights productions and play the role of many more old men in the future.

Logan Austin
Stage Manager
Logan, a sophomore , after earning his basket-weaving and transmogrifying degrees from Warwick Community College, (go Whipped Cream!) has returned in triumph to the Heights to act as the stage manager for however many plays Mr. Bissex will put up with him for. This is his second year in the Drama program and his third year as a stage-manager.

Joseph Bissex
Director
Joseph has directed, performed in, or designed for over 60 shows in high school, university, and community theatre venues. His favorite plays are Shakespeare's Tempest (the single greatest play in the English language) and Chekhov's The Seagull. He has resolved to take part in productions of every Shakespeare play, and has 12 so far. Thank you to our wonderful students, faculty, and community for making these productions happen! Joaquin Bucheli

Joaquin will make his fifth appearance in a high school play. He has enjoyed playing the roles of Mr. Macafee (Bye Bye Birdie at Holy Child), The Snail (The Insect Play), and Juror Six (Twelve Angry Men).

George is excited for his first role in a drama production. An avid movie-watcher, George wanted to try out acting before graduation. He thanks all his classmates for their patience with him.

Joe Cardenas
Architectural Consultant
Joe Cardenas is the Head of the Mentoring program, and teaches The Freshman Core and AP Art History. Since coming to The Heights in 1994, he has organized cultural trips to Spain and Italy and service projects in Mexico and Peru. He has also taught at The Head-Royce School, an independent school in California, and at inner-city programs in Chicago and the Bronx before joining The Heights faculty.

Brian Coyne
Artwork
Brian Coyne graduated from The Heights in 1994. He was a “lifer” as he attended all 10 years. He studied at The Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC and The Yellow Barn in Glen Echo, MD. In 2007 He began teaching art full time for The Heights and hasn’t looked back. Brian’s paintings have been shown in art galleries in the metro area. He is also an avid musician, baseball player, and coach.

Fr. Diego Daza
Liturgical Advisor
Fr. Diego is originally from Spain, receiving his bachelor’s degree in Madrid. After College, he taught Spanish Literature and Geography at Retamar, a school for boys in Madrid. He obtained a doctorate in Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1998. Over the following decade, he lived in Seville, Jerusalem and Rome before coming to the Washington D.C., where he has served as chaplain at Oakcrest School and The Heights.

Daniel Rueda-Ramirez
Assistant Stage Manager
Daniel is thrilled to be back on the stage for A Man for All Seasons, his second play as an Omnibus Player, after playing Juror 5 in 12 Angry Men last semester. In addition to his love for drama, he also enjoys debate, playing his piano, reading, and biking. Daniel thanks his director and fellow actors for all their support and encouragement, and above all, God, who makes all things possible.

Tommy Tang

Tommy is a veteran actor, having appeared in A Separate Peace, Macbeth, The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew, Macbeth, And Then There Were None, Our Neighborhood, The Insect Play, and 12 Angry Men. When Tommy is not acting, he enjoys watching sports, playing squash, and watching movies.

Mark Hieronymus
Design and Marketing
Mark is a native of southern New Hampshire. He earned a B.A. from Thomas More College of Liberal Arts with a concentration in philosophy. He studied art and architecture in Rome, Italy. Mark joined the faculty of The Heights in 2017 and teaches Middle School Latin, Art and Writing. He and his wife Alexandra live in Virginia with their daughters, Philomena (Philly) and Sophia.

George Martin
Program
George, an alumnus of The Heights class of 2010, has always been fascinated by what can happen at the intersection of art and technology. Having studied philosophy for his undergraduate degree at The Catholic University of America, George enjoys exploring how one can utilize contemporary analog and digital electronics to push the bounds of artistic expression. In his free time, when George isn't composing music, patching a synthesizer, or programming, he's usually taking care of his one-year-old golden retriever, Scotch.
