Alina Ceñal (Raquel)
Alina has been dancing through life with energy and passion in everything she does. Cuban born she is a physical performer, director, teacher and writer whose career extends over 40 years in television, theater, and film. Her solo shows; Cuba: My Return and Words From A Cuban Father have toured national and internationally. Most recent, Alina played Abuela Claudia in In The Heights at the Oregon Cabaret Theater in Ashland. Alina is on the board of Teatro de las Américas where she has performed: Christmas Contigo, Juguetones, Orinoco, El Circo de tu Corazón, Directed: Stand And Deliver and teaches in Oxnard. She is thrilled to be a member of Boxtales, a touring children’s theater company performing at schools. Bringing children life skills through the magic of theater has been the center of Alina’s work. In 1995, she founded Kids Acting Out-West bringing after-school program and summer camps to the youth. Most proud is being Lala to her five grand-babies. Some of her TV credits include: The Shield, Judging Amy, Days of our Lives, Diagnosis Murder, Quantum Leap, Matlock, Webster. Some STAGE: Oregon Cabaret Theater, Southern Oregon University, San Diego Rep, LATC, Odyssey, South Coast Rep, Mark Taper Improvisational Theater Project, Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, and international company of “A Chorus Line”.
James Donlon (Paul)
James has been a celebrated international performer, master teacher and director since 1970. He has performed his original solo theater throughout North America, Europe, and Latin America to critical acclaim. The New York Times describes his work as “an extraordinary blend of skill and lunacy!”. Donlon has been on the faculties of the most important acting schools in the United States, and presented residencies for international theatre conservatories in Mexico, Spain, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Ireland. He has offered workshops for the famous El Teatro Campesino, and was movement coach for El Teatro Campesino’s PBS TV performance La Pastorela. Donlon has been the film movement coach for Oscar-winners Javier Bardem, Kathy Bates, and Frances McDormand. Many of his students have performed on New York Broadway over the last 45 years. He has directed several shows for Teatro de las Américas including Orinoco, El Circo de tu Corazón, Wrench, Christmas Contigo, Juguetones, and Jimmie, El Payaso Histórico de Oxnard. James is a member of the Teatro de las Américas Board of Directors.
Laksmini Wiyantini (Dulce)
Laksmini has been in theater from a very young age and comes from a background of traditional Balinese theater. She moved to the United States from Indonesia to study at SBCC and has been in various productions since she graduated in 2017. This is her first performance with Teatro de las Américas and she is very grateful for the opportunity.
Adam Gonzalez (Nico)
Adam is a proud Board Member of Teatro de las Américas and Visit Oxnard @visitoxnardca. He appeared in the play, Locuras en Wichita, directed by Denise Blasor. He has written and recorded songs for platinum selling songwriter, Sheree Brown. Other artists include Kay Cola, Ronee Martin and Vinny Rivera. He also appeared in the 2012 NYC Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony with Victoria Justice. He is married to his best friend, Gabrielle Wimer Gonzalez, and father of two beautiful girls, Isabella (13) and Camila (8).
