The Sound of Music Cast

Heidi has played Baroness Elsa 5 times but had never directed Sound of Music before, although she loves the show. She was inspired when she read “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers”, by Maria Augusta von Trapp, the true story. The book goes beyond the escape from Nazis in Austria, and follows them from their concert tours to Vermont, where they settled because it reminded them of the mountains in Austria and opened a summer music camp. They called their home “Cor Unum” = One Heart. One of the daughters, Maria, taught kindergarten in Glyndon, Maryland. The family were all devout Catholics, and made all their decisions by asking” what is the will of God” in family meetings. Heidi earned a Music degree in her native Ohio, has appeared with Tampa Opera & New Orleans Opera, cantors professionally at three churches, sings professionally with Joyous Voices a capella, and works for the Maryland State Dept of Education. She has now directed 15 musicals for St. Gabriel.
