Little Women Cast

Sejal Janaswamy (Mrs. Tomlinson/Jenny)
Sejal Janaswamy (Junior) has acted and done tech for three other SDA shows including the One Acts, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, and the Ten Minute Musicals. Outside of theater, Sejal loves to sing and play music. She has also done extensive dance training for Odissi and ballet, and has done numerous recitals, competitions, and summer intensives. She is very grateful to SDA for giving her so many wonderful opportunities in theatre.
Sydney Rhine (Josephine)
Sydney Rhine (Junior) is 16 years old. Little Women will be her first in-person production with SDA. Prior to SDA, she’s performed in productions like A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Puck and Erika Kincaid in Murder Can Be Habit Forming. Over the summer she worked with La Jolla Playhouse’s Conservatory along with some of the cast members in this production. Now she’s excited to work with the amazing people in SDA’s theatre department after such a long time online. She’s excited to be in-person again and hopes you feel welcomed back to the theater with this classic production of Little Women!
Isabelle Achartz (Meg)
Isabelle Achartz (Senior) newly turned 17. She is incredibly excited as this is her first show back from COVID. Theater for Isabelle has been a safe space and a chance to express herself as well as find her individuality.
Sophia Funicello (Amy)
Sophia Funicello (Junior) is delighted to be playing Amy in Little Women. Some of her more notable credits include Matilda and Freaky Friday (Ovation Theatre Company), and Julius Caesar (The Firebird Project, NYC). Most recently she appeared in SDA’s production of Clue! During the online school year she worked on three SDA productions; A Virtual Who Dunnit, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, and 10 Minute Musicals. She is an inducted Thespian in SDA's Thespian Society and spends her free time reading and drawing.
Avella DeGennaro (Beth)
Avella DeGennaro (Senior) is 18 years old. Little Women marks her 11th production with SDA theatre. Some of her favorite acting roles have been (almost) Alice in Alice in Wonderland (and Back Again) and Ensemble #1 in On Your Mark. Some of her favorite technical roles include co-sound designing for A Midsummer Night’s Dream and completing research as the dramaturg for A Virtual Whodunnit. In her free time Avella loves to spend time with family, read, and watch movies. She is absolutely thrilled to play a part in bringing this magical production to life!
Mallory Oien (Jo)
Mallory Oien (Junior) just turned 17! Little Women marks her in-person debut with SDA Theater, and she could not be more excited! Mallory has been performing with various local theater companies since she was young. Likewise, this past summer, Mallory got accepted to train at the La Jolla Playhouse Conservatory and received an Overall Superior at the International Thespian Festival. When she’s not performing, you can probably find her playing field hockey, or at any of the local surf breaks on a giant pink longboard. Enjoy the show, and three cheers for the return of live theater!
Isabella Thierry (Marmee)
Isabella Thierry (Senior) is 18 years old. Little Women will mark her 8th production at SDA and 22nd production overall. She recently starred in SDA’s production of Clue as the Cook and the Singing Telegram Girl. Some of her other credits include Sylvia in All Shook Up (Ovation Theatre) and the Master of the Justice in Something Rotten (Ovation Theatre). When Isabella is not on stage, she enjoys taking voice lessons, photography, tap dancing, and spending time with her friends and family. She wants to thank Mrs. Siers for giving her the opportunity to play such a wonderful character, as well as student directors Molly Garot and Halley Armentrout for giving her additional guidance throughout the production. She also wants to thank her family for supporting her as well. After Isabella graduates, she hopes to pursue a degree in communications with a minor in theater arts management.
Matthew Colbourne (Mr. March)
Matthew Colbourne (Senior) is 17 years old. Little Women is his ninth show at SDA. He has been in Clue, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, 10 Minute Musicals, Myth-o-logues, and more! Matthew has 4 siblings and 6 pets. In his free time, he likes to cook and go to the beach.
Jacqueline Jones (Hannah)
Jacqueline Jones (Junior) marveled in partaking in her eighth SDA production, with this being her fourth time acting in one. She starred most recently as Cassandra in Myth-O-Logues and ACTOR in The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, and was honored to play Hannah and be the publicity manager in Little Women. When not performing on stage, one can see Jackie zooming around on the field hockey and softball fields, cracking jokes on the ComedySportz turf, slamming buzzers for Academic League, tutoring her peers for National Honor Society, or just simply solving integrals for her Calc III and Linear Algebra classes. Jackie wishes to continue her acting career past high school, and wants to thank Mrs. Siers for all of her help thus far! :)
Kai Betita (Aunt March)
Kai Betita (Junior) is very passionate about acting and has been a part of many SDA productions, including Clue, A Virtual Whodunnit, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. He has also appeared in numerous shows with other local theater companies. In his free time he enjoys cooking, traveling, and listening to music. He is very excited to be apart of this wonderful production with an exceptionally talented cast and crew.
Brandon Feffer (Laurie)
Brandon Feffer (Senior) is elated to perform Laurie in Little Women! He is also currently the officer of public relations for SDA's Thespian Troupe (@sdathespians). Most recently, Brandon played Mr. Green in Clue! He has previously been in SDA Theatre productions including Mamma Mia, which went on to win the Broadway San Diego Award for Best Musical in 2019! Brandon also has enjoyed multiple positions on the technical side of theater, his favorite being a Co-Costume Designer in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Connor Overton (Mr. Laurence)
Connor Overton (Junior) is happy to have taken part in Little Women, his 6th production at SDA and the 28th show in his lifetime. He has participated in other theater companies including Park Dale Players and The Theater School at North Coast Repertory. Connor has done theater every since 4th grade. He is also part of the Speech and Debate team.
Daniel Mair (John Brooke)
Daniel Mair (Senior) is very proud to present SDA's rendition of Little Women. He plays John Brooke and is a part of costume crew, which is his personal favorite tech role that he's ever done. This is his sixth production with SDA, and technically his third on stage. Previous shows he's been a part of include the One Act Festival of 2019, Alice in Wonderland (killed by COVID), A Virtual Whodunnit, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Clue. When he's not on stage, he enjoys hanging out with his friends, sleeping, weight training, and discussing philosophy. He hopes you enjoy these Small Ladies/Petite Girls/Minuscule Females who've brought this lovely production to life!
Kai Tesan (Mrs. Moffett)
Kai Tesan (Junior) has been participating in theater for more than five years now. He has done a range of shows but is exited to be included in the production of Little Woman and can’t wait to continue his theatre career.
Katie Anderson (Clara/Sarah)
Katie Anderson (Junior) is 17 years old. This is her 7th production at SDA, and her second time being master electrician. Outside of school, Katie has performed in 4 of Ovation Theatre's productions: "Anything Goes," "Freaky Friday," "Matilda," and "Something Rotten." When she is not onstage, Katie likes to tap dance, watch Friends, listen to Taylor Swift, and go on drives.
Ella Darlington (Mary/Kitty)
Ella Darlington (Senior) is so excited to be a part of her second in-person show since the lockdown! She has been acting for 10 years and her love for the theater has only grown. Most recently, she played Mrs. Peacock in Clue: Onstage at SDA. Her favorite role she has played was Lucy Van Pelt in A Charlie Brown Christmas at North Coast Rep. In addition to acting, she is a dedicated technician and has been Props Master for two shows: The Haunting of Hill House and Myth-O-Logues. When not onstage, Ella enjoys reading, writing, and listening to Taylor Swift.
Iyar Galor (Katy/Minnie)
Iyar Galor (Junior) is 16 years old and is so excited to be the costume designer for this year's production of Little Women. She is usually acting on stage , with some of her favorite roles including Tzeitel (Fiddler on the Roof), Olivia (Twelfth Night), Ariel (The Tempest), Anastasia (Man Overboard), and Ms. Hardwick-Moore (Lady of Larspur Lotion). Other than theater, Iyar enjoys painting, writing, hiking, and drawing, along with playing and training her two cats, Cashew and Pikachu.
Käthe Andranian (Mrs. Kirke)
Käthe Andranian (Senior) is excited to be a part of her 16th SDA production, working with this amazing cast and crew! She most recently appeared as Miss Scarlet in Clue and has also portrayed Narrator 2 in The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon and Olivia in Trials. Her favorite technical roles so far have been Film Editor (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Publicity Manager (Mamma Mia!, Failure: a Love Story, Every Brilliant Thing), and Dramaturg for Little Women! She will be appearing as Diana in Oh, Ollie! in the spring. Outside of theatre, Käthe enjoys writing novels and playing water polo. Enjoy the show!
Jeremy Ward (Professor Bhaer)
Jeremy Ward (Senior) is excited to act in his first production here at the Clayton E. Liggett Theatre. When not on stage, Jeremy loves hanging out with friends, playing basketball, and writing. He is so excited to be working with such an outstanding cast in our production of Little Women.
