About Life in Color and The Music of Life

Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and The Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho will bring their energy and joy to your life as they present “Life in Color” and “The Music of Life” on May 13 and 14 at 2 PM. The performances will take place at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2903 Cabezon Road, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  ASL sign language interpretation will be provided at both performances. The choruses will be collecting non-perishable food items for St. Felix Pantry that weekend as well.

The Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus are programs of Rio Rancho Creative Crossroads. Colin Burdge, Artistic Director of the Youth Chorus, describes the concert as “a celebration of life, joy and the colors of spring featuring gorgeous, lofty melodies we all know and love. There are cool, complicated rhythms, some fun, dissonant harmonies, and challenging lyrics we worked hard to perfect.”

The Children’s Chorus Artistic Director is Louise Loomis. She is proud to say “The kids have learned expressive movement, two-part harmony, how to sing canons, perform choreography and how to blend their voices in choral performance. We’re singing songs about the journey of life” Quite an accomplishment for kids in grades 2 – 5!

You won’t want to miss this heartwarming, exuberant rainbow of music!

Rio Rancho Choruses

Rio Rancho Youth Chorus & Childern's Chorus of Rio Rancho both offer musical instruction in a welcoming, open, and fun environment. Each chorus performs various styles of music that will teach the chorus members to learn harmony, recognize and reproduce pitch, have rhythmic accuracy, and be able to focus while the chorus, as a whole, works towards our goals. Through the group’s musical instruction and performance experience, we instill confidence and self-esteem, skills that will serve our members for life.  The choruses unite children & youth of diverse backgrounds by bringing them together with a common thread of music.  Participation also advances the role of children & youth in our community by offering a public performance at the end of each season that includes focus on another local non profit.
