About Measure for Measure

TL;DR (may contain spoilers): Angelo rules as a religious tyrant, tries to manipulate a nun to sleep with him, is foiled, and ultimately punished.

Our production of William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure finds us in a fictional Vienna in the early 1950's, where Duke Vincentio leaves Angelo in charge of Vienna, where he quickly condemns Claudio to death for immoral behaviour. Angelo offers to pardon Claudio if his sister, Isabella, sleeps with him. Isabella agrees but has Angelo's fiance switch places with her. The Duke returns to spare Claudio, punish Angelo, and propose to Isabella. (www.shakespeare.org.uk)

Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Drama Department

Peninsula Drama is committed to providing a comprehensive and varied program while raising the Drama Department's profile on the PVPHS campus and in our community. Any student can find their home here, whether they are involved in just our classes, getting on stage in productions, performing with our improv team or finding their voice working backstage on tech crew.

Between productions, the Drama Club and Thespian Honors Society, our students have the opportunity to continue to grow and succeed. Coupled with Mr Cohen's experience performing with Comedy Sportz Los Angeles, and his experience working as a theater technician, designer and his background in film production students are afforded opportunities to get a wide-range of experience and get involved with Peninsula Drama in a variety of ways. All of this helps our students develop not only as performers and technicians, but also developing peripheral skills that open up many opportunities for college, scholarships and the professional world.
