About Company

On the night of his 35th birthday, Boobie struggles to think of a wish to make as they blow out their birthday candles. The lone bachelor/bachelorette surrounded by “those good and crazy people” -- their married friends – Bobbie is uncertain whether they should simply be happy with their lot or whether they should wish for their own romantic partner. Over a series of dinner parties, first dates, and thoughtful conversations, Bobbie attempts to understand the pros and cons of marriage from their diverse and frequently hilarious friends, and begins to make sense of their own persistent bachelorhood. Company, Stephen Sondheim’s groundbreaking modern musical, is a mature, intelligent, and wildly funny look at relationships, vulnerability, and “being alive.”

MEL’s School of Music & Theatre

At MEL's, we are inclusive, diverse, open and honest! In this production, we are helping our own students to explore their thoughts on relationships, including ones with friends, family, colleagues and of course people they may have personal feelings for. We are also opening the conversation up to our audience regarding LGBTQ topics, peer pressure, and relationships in their own lives. Our studio provides a safe space for our students to learn about themselves and each other.  Because of the mature content of this show, we recommend audience members be 13 and up!
