Beginning Scene Study- Matilda Jr. Acting Prep

In this class, we will be focusing on beginning scene study.  Students will get the opportunity to help prepare for this summer’s Acting Out Camp production of Matilda Jr.  Directed by Amy Baker Stout and Amanda Marzo. Students will be learning British dialects and learn how to break down a scene, develop a character, character movements, and acting with a scene partner. Students will be assigned one scene with another partner, and a group scene. There will be a final scene performance for family and friends on May 25th.

We will be selecting scenes from such plays as:

• Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
• James and the Giant Peach
• BFG
• Peter Pan
• Sally Cotter and the Censored Stone 
• Peter and Wendy
• Peter and the Starcatcher
• Alice and Wonderland
• Into the Woods
• Oliver

Space is limited to 20 students so make sure to sign up as soon as possible.

Acting Out is an educational opportunity for local children to experience and learn the theatrical arts in a safe environment. We offer a summer program and an after-school program.  

Acting Out teaches respect, teamwork, and self-expression through theatre games and production rehearsal.  Together, the students must complete specific curriculum items and work toward producing a performance at the conclusion of each class.  We offer two six-week classes throughout the school year beginning in the Fall.
