Kinetics Dance Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of dance as a vital art form in the community. KDT houses Kinetics Dance Company, presenting a rich repertoire of innovative concert dance, Kinetics School of Dance, offering classes in dance technique and theory to students of all ages and levels, and Kinetics Youth Ensemble, providing opportunities for devoted youth to perform and participate in dance opportunities throughout the area. In each of its three components, Kinetics demonstrates its strong commitment to the region by emphasizing community involvement through dance presentation, outreach, and education.
Our four Kinetics Youth Ensemble (KYE) groups are comprised of dancers in grades 4-12. Participating in KYE involves a commitment to class and rehearsal beyond normal class expectations and is intended for dancers who wish to hone their technique and performance skills. Time commitments are composed of weekly rehearsals and some pre- scheduled weekends. Additional rehearsals may be called in preparation for performances. In addition to their weekly schedules, ensemble members will have the opportunity to work with different choreographers in a variety of dance genres, perform throughout the year at various venues in the community, attend the annual Howard County Community Dance Festival (a weekend of master classes and performances culminating in a student showcase), perform in KYE productions in the Winter and Spring, and have their work featured in the Kinetics Spring Showcase.
