About Trifles

Scripted Studio presents Susan Glaspell's beloved play, Trifles, as a special feature for Women's History Month. After Mr. Wright is found dead, the local characters of a small, rural town visit the house to investigate. While the men explore the crime scene, the women find the real clues in the small trinkets hidden in the world of Mrs. Wright. Even after more than a century, Trifles continues to ask important questions about the secrets we keep and the loyalties we choose, all the while reminding us that even the smallest signs can point us towards the truth, if we are willing to listen and pay attention.

Scripted Studio

The Scripted Studio Series: an extension of the Theatre and Film Department’s main stage offerings, this series features staged readings new plays by contemporary playwrights, as well as works from the traditional dramatic canon. Minimum production allows for a short rehearsal process and invites student actors of all years, majors, and levels of experience to participate. Monthly selections highlight a variety of current social issues, with particular focus on plays and characters featuring marginalized and underrepresented voices. Selections for the series are curated by students under faculty mentorship.  When possible, filmed and live-streamed presentation allows for wider distribution of the work, upholding theatre as a social imperative.
