About Alice

Inspired by the classic characters from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass, Herald Drama presents Alice, an original filmed interactive production featuring original illustrations by Jessica Shih. Students will rehearse in Zoom, film on the WCHS campus, and the final film will be streamed via a ticketed website. Each household that purchases a ticket will receive a box to open as instructed throughout the show for interactive objects and surprises to make the viewing experience more immersive.

Herald Drama

Excellence In The Classroom:
WCHS offers two theatre classes each day: Theatre I and Theatre II. The curriculum covers theatre history, play analysis and writing, production elements, and acting. The classes also offer opportunities to participate in Drama Ministry to elementary and junior high schools.

Excellence On And Off Stage:
WCHS offers opportunities in performance, stage management, and technical theatre to any student on campus (class enrollment is not a requirement for production participation). We choose the term "company" rather than "cast and crew" because each job - on stage and off - is essential to the success of every production.

Excellence Unto God:

“We live by revelation, as Christians, as artists, which means we must be careful never to get set into rigid molds. The minute we begin to think we know all the answers, we forget the questions, and we become smug like the Pharisee who listed all his considerable virtues, and thanked God that he was not like other men...

The artist is a servant who is willing to be a birthgiver. In a very real sense the artist (male or female) should be like Mary who, when the angel told her that she was to bear the Messiah, was obedient to the command... I believe that each work of art, whether it is a work of great genius, or something very small, comes to the artist and says, 'Here I am. Enflesh me. Give birth to me.' And the artist either says, 'My soul doth magnify the Lord,' and willingly becomes the bearer of the work, or refuses; but the obedient response is not necessarily a conscious one, and not everyone has the humble, courageous obedience of Mary...

The journey homewards. Coming home. That's what it's all about. The journey to the coming of the Kingdom. That's probably the chief difference between the Christian and the secular artist--the purpose of the work, be it story or music or painting, is to further the coming of the kingdom, to make us aware of our status as children of God, and to turn our feet toward home." - Madeleine L'Engle, Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art
