About School of Rock

Andrew Lloyd Webber, the man who brought rock and romance to Broadway, is back with a new heart-stirring hit. SCHOOL OF ROCK is a New York Times Critics’ Pick and “AN INSPIRING JOLT OF ENERGY, JOY AND MAD SKILLZ!” (Entertainment Weekly ). Reuters raves ”ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER HAS BROADWAY ROCKING AGAIN!”

Based on the hit film, this hilarious new musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within. (The New York Times says, “BE WARNED! There’s a love story in this one.”)

Featuring 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the movie, this high-octane smash delivers face-melting guitar riffs and touching romance in equally awesome doses! The Daily News cheers, ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER “AWAKENS THE EMPOWERING MESSAGE OF ROCK!” and Time Out New York raves, “SCHOOL’s in – FOREVER!”

Front and Centre Productions, Inc.

In 2009, Front and Centre Productions, Inc. was founded to offer visual and performing arts experiences that would foster creativity for all participants.  From 2009 to 2014, the organization survived by the generosity of community groups who offered temporary rehearsal and program space until moving into leased space on Front Street in Philipsburg, providing a physical home for arts activities.   With added programs and increased participation, it became evident that an expansion was necessary.  Rather than continue leasing space and offering monthly payments to a landlord, the board of directors decided to look for a property to purchase and invest in Front and Centre Productions.
Greg Dufour, owner and President of Sez Sew Stitching, approached Front and Centre Productions about his building located at 105 Elizabeth Street in Osceola Mills.  Sez Sew continues to operate from this location but was interested in looking for a buyer who would utilize the space that Mr. Dufour was no longer using.  After discussion with him and CNB Bank, it was determined to proceed with the purchase of the 1.425 acre property.  On Tuesday, February 20, 2018 it became official and the new Front and Centre Productions Community Arts Center is a reality.  The building is 5 times larger than the location on Front Street in Philipsburg, allowing for expansion of programming and future opportunities.  There is also a second garage building that will be perfect for set construction and storage for theatrical productions.  Renovations have begun and an Open House will be announced.
The Osceola Mills Borough Council and Mayor Ida Reams are excited about the opportunities coming to the town.  They are happy to see a location where all ages will be welcomed in a safe environment with arts activities available to everyone.  The Borough Council and Front and Centre Productions are looking forward to future partnership opportunities to offer the community.  While Front and Centre Productions was not eager to leave downtown Philipsburg, its home for the past 4 years, it was time to begin a new adventure.
Front and Centre Productions is a non-profit visual and performing arts organization whose mission is three-fold:  to present high-quality arts experiences for the cultural education, entertainment, and inspiration of the Moshannon Valley communities, to foster and develop artistic talents and skills of all participants, and to encourage public appreciation of the arts and to develop future audiences and supporters of the arts.  Current programming includes:  ILLUSIONS Dance Studio, IGNITE Youth Theatre, INSPIRE Community Theatre, IMAGINE Arts and Crafts, and ILLUMINATE Music Lessons.  Some IGNITE Youth Theatre performances have included Mary Poppins, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, The Wizard of Oz, and Newsies.  For more information about Front and Centre Productions, visit the website at www.frontandcentre.org or call 814-343-1812.
