About Hello, Dolly!

Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma, heart, and laughter. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler. But everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself, the only person who will do is Horace Vandergelder, the famous “half-a-millionaire.” Set at the turn of the century, Dolly's matchmaking hi-jinks have her, Horace, Horace's employees, and many more running around New York City.

Hello Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Hello, Dolly! features such memorable songs as “Before the Parade Passes By,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” and - of course - the title number, “Hello, Dolly!” Dolly herself is one of the strongest and richest starring roles for a woman ever written for the musical theatre, and famous Dolly Levis have included Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Pearl Bailey, Mary Martin, Barbra Streisand, and most recently, Bette Midler and Bernadette Peters.

About the Crescent Players

We are a local theatre group made up of people from all over the Auglaize, Mercer, Shelby, and Darke County area. We welcome performers of all ages and backgrounds. Our goals are to promote our love for the theatre through building community values: teamwork, confidence, musicianship, and passion for what you do.

Established in 1967, the Crescent Players group was founded as a community theatre group for people of all ages in the West-Central Ohio area. We started performing in the Crescent Theater in Minster, Ohio. Our name pays tribute to the theater where we began. When the theater closed in the early 1990s, we moved on to other venues and performance sites.

We’ve only grown from there. Over the years, we have performed plays, musicals, short skits, as well as talent/variety-type shows. Today, you can see us perform in local high school auditoriums in the area for our spring musicals and cabaret performances. We are proud of our long history, as well as the hundreds of cast members, past and present, who have been a part of the Crescent Players family.
