About Melody's Serenade

Melody's Serenade is an original production written by our very own Chris Boberg.

Cindy Taylor’s family is a fun-loving family in the present day, full of love and compassion for one another.  Cindy is at her family owned harbor-side cafe, The Galley and Gather, celebrating with some sadness, the end of its nearly 125 years of serving both servicemen and civilians.  The café hasn’t generated the funds to maintain its property, the bank is ready to foreclose, and soon an insensitive executive will arrive with her aspirations of taking over the café and having it demolished.  In spite of all of Cindy’s efforts to save it as manager, she is tired of the burden of running it.  With all this going on, Cindy also takes care of her 102-year-old grandmother, Melody.  Melody is in a wheelchair and cannot speak, although family and friends include her in the recounting of past exploits at the café.  During this time of transition, Cindy begins to wonder about her quiet almost sad grandmother; about her life and the woman that she used to be in her younger, more vibrant days before the wheelchair.  After Melody is taken to her room for the night, Cindy comes across a dusty old box containing some of Melody’s past belongings and an old photo album.   As Cindy opens the photo album, she is whisked away to a time of laughter, heartache, war, music, hope, reconciliation….and love.  It’s 1944…and Cindy is about to see the grandmother she never knew, witness a love story that was never told and uncover a secret that can save her cafe.  It’s a piece of life that plays like a melancholy ballad.  It’s Melody’s Serenade.

Christian Fellowship Theater

Our Mission

The mission of Christian Fellowship Theater is to empower a generation of students by providing a safe place for them to grow in their gifts while enjoying the experience of theater.

At the heart of Christian Fellowship Theater are three priorities:

1. Our first priority is to operate as a Christian organization. We teach our students theatrical skills in an atmosphere where they are taught to glorify the Lord through excellence, both on and off the stage. This means that we seek out leaders who are following Christ, leaders who seek to honor God in their daily walk as they mentor our students.

2. Our second priority is to give our students a place to belong, a place to be safe, vulnerable, and compassionate. We fellowship together through worship, prayer, devotion time, drama games, and through our productions. Our desire is to create an atmosphere where relationships can be fostered as we grow together in Christ.

3. Our final priority is theater, the means by which we accomplish our first two priorities. Stepping onto the stage to become a character stretches the faith of many of our students and witnessing this transformation blesses both the parents and the leaders of CFT. We strive for excellence, not perfection. We strive for personal growth for each student and an established team unity.
