Rodgers and Hammerstein’s enchanting adaptation of the timeless fairytale, Cinderella, was their only musical originally composed for television. When the television program, starring Julie Andrews as Cinderella, first aired in 1957, it was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium at that time.

Since then, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella has continued to charm audiences in productions on stage and on television. Based upon the classic fairy tale, and particularly the French version Cendrillon ou la Petite Pantoufle de Verre, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s adaptation brings new life to the story of a young woman forced into servitude who dreams of – and achieves – a better life.

Cinderella features some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.”

The Harlequin Club

The Harlequin Club is Central Bucks West High School's drama club. Fall productions may include a full-length play, one-act plays and/or a smaller ensemble musical. In the spring we produce a large full ensemble musical, typically with a pit orchestra. In addition, we present a student-directed one-act showcase and a student-directed cabaret also in the spring, as well as other community appearances and festivals throughout the year.

We are Troupe 2115, active members of the International Thespian Society And we are proud members of the Philadelphia Independence Awards. In 2022, the Harlequin Club won the award for best High School Musical in the Philadelphia region for their production of Amélie. Also in 2022 and again in 2023, Harlequin Club students received the nomination to represent the Philadelphia region in the prestigious Jimmy Awards for High School Musical Theatre. Director Claudine Piechotta was nominated as Educator of the Year for the Philadelphia Region in 2024 along with one of our Harlequin students for her Creative Team Leadership. In the Spring of 2024 The Harlequin Club's production of Mean Girls  was awarded “Best Musical Production” at the Bucks County Playhouse Student Festival.

Even though Central Bucks does not have a performing arts curriculum in school and the club is fully self-funded, we continue to seek out ways to not only engage students through a robust theatrical production schedule but also educate them through workshops, competitions and leadership opportunities.

On the CBSD CLUB PAGE you will find information about our upcoming shows and events as well as photos from our current and past shows, information about upcoming auditions, rehearsal schedules and parent information.
