Oregon City Children's Theatre is a non-profit organization.
Since our establishment in 2005 we have relied on nothing more than registration fees and fundraising to generate income that will cover the costs of a production. We are currently transitioning from a show-to-show organization to year round with a larger reach in the community and surrounding areas. Which also means we'll be expanding our staff and those who have been working as volunteers will be coming aboard as full time employees.
Donations, big or small, really do make a difference! Producing any production, especially musicals, is expensive business. Which is why we charge a registration fee, as they do for sports, to participate. However, we've always kept our cost of participating well below the average cost of after school programs and activities. We also created the per family fundraiser to buffer the production budget, but gave parents the option to waive it in exchange for stepping into one of our production/ team leads, because having the extra hands is comparably priceless.
Here is our 2022 budget model for Charlotte's Web:
30 kids X $135.00 (registration fee) = $4,050 - $35 (t-shirt, trophy, mask, service charges)
X 30 kids = $3,000 Registration Fee Income
30 kids - 7 (siblings) = 23 families X $100 = $2,300 - $100 X 5 (parent team/ show leads)
= $1,800 Fundraising Income
Grand Total = $4,800
As you can see producing a show on such a small budget creates major challenges when you really break down all the possible costs of any one production: paying royalties, construction materials, paint, props, costumes, wigs, specialty makeup, wireless microphones, microphone board, lighting instruments, gels, light board, spotlights, amps, sound board, poster printing, program printing, service fees, electricity/ heating bills…
During this transition we highly appreciate anything you can donate to our program!
Sincerely,
Michelle, Beth, Shirley, Becky & Emily
