NEAAAT Theatre is a growing program that is open to all students, grades 5-12. We develop critical life skills while learning the craft of live theatre!

TELLING OUR STORIES--It is the job of artists to witness and record the human experience. Live theatre lets us relive our most human
moments together--to celebrate and mourn, to ask questions, to find peace, and sometimes just to escape for a bit. Each audience is a temporary community and each performance helps us to understand just a bit more about ourselves!

SUPPORTING THE NEAAAT WAY--Theatre by its very nature hones the mindsets and toolsets that are a foundation of education at NEAAAT. Working together, solving problems in innovative ways, developing empathy and inclusiveness, building resilience and connection to community--it's all there with every production any theatre company does! At NEAAAT, we consciously recognize these skills and encourage students to develop them in a very intentional way.

BUILDING REAL-WORLD SKILLS--Along with the obvious skills of public speaking and working as a team, theatre students also gain experience in practical skills such as organizing a calendar and meeting deadlines, drafting, creating and following a budget, sewing, communicating an idea to a team (and defending your choices), managing peers in a professional setting, etc. The list goes on and on!

FOSTERING CREATIVITY & EXPRESSION--Arts education is a place where students can test their ideas, explore their creativity, and learn to express themselves in ways that aren't always possible in other classrooms. The confidence and maturity that students develop when working on a production or in a theatre class are simply priceless!
