Suspension Theatrical Arts, the in-house repertory company for Mr. Smalls Presents, wants you to be part of its next theatrical event. “Full Day Suspension: A 24-Hour Theatre Festival” will see a series of 10-minute plays, all written, rehearsed, and produced in the prior 24 exhilarating hours, premiere to the public on the Mr. Smalls Theatre mainstage on Saturday, February 17th.

With festival direction by Zev Woskoff & event production by Patrick Mayoral, participants are pre-assigned a production role (i.e. Playwright, Director, Actor, Designer, or Crew). The evening before the festival, Actors audition for Playwrights, who then pick which Actors they would like to write for. Overnight, Playwrights each write a 10-minute play for their Actors with regular check-ins and feedback from our Playwright in Residence, TJ Young. The following morning, Playwrights pitch their plays to the Directors, who each pick which script they want to work on. Everyone convenes for a complimentary breakfast at Mr. Smalls before each team of Directors and Actors begins to rehearse. Throughout the day, each team is also given individual rehearsal time on the main stage with feedback and guidance from our Director in Residence, Connor McCanlus. Designers and Crew Members work in the space throughout the day, coordinating performance logistics, building props, etc. Everyone converges for an afternoon Tech/Dress Rehearsal before the plays are performed in sequence to the public on the evening of Saturday, February 17th.

Participation form is closed. Thank you for all of you interest!

PASSION AT MR. SMALLS THEATRE - POSTPONED, NEW DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED

This show will likely be rescheduled for 2025. Ticket holders will be emailed when the new dates are announced. There will be a 30 day refund window starting the day new dates are announced for anyone who cannot make the new dates.

Suspension Theatrical Arts, dedicated to bringing live theater and opera to Millvale will produce PASSION, the Tony-Award winning one-act chamber opera from legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Productions of this show are a rarity, receiving fewer productions than most of Sondheim's other work. However, in the wake of Stephen Sondheim?s death, it is more important than ever to show this incredibly intimate and personal work to the world. Spearheaded by an insanely talented cast and crew of local theater stalwarts, CMU students and alumni, this show is a not-for-profit production intended to gauge community interest in the potential for live theater in Millvale.
